THE PERMANENCY OF ROADS.
Mr Guy Dawbcr, A.R.A., writes to the London "Times":—"The conversion of our old roads into great concrete speedway tracks and the new road building and widening are causing the destruction of the beauty of our countryside and the character ot our old villages at such an alarming rate that it makes one wonder whether we are not, as a nation, motor mad. In these days of rapid advancement in the science of aviation of still further developments, axe we surethat these roads will be so necessary in the near future? The safety and comfort ot civil aviation is advancing as quickly as that of the motor-ear has done, and it is worth considering whether we are right in constructing this vast network of roads if in years to come they may become obsolete. Space hath no limit, near or far, Beyond the worlds we see; One source have all the worlds wnicn are. And all the worlds to be.
