TRAIN SERVICE CURTAILED. To further reduce the consumption of electric power the Bailway Department has arranged to withdraw, one train' each way both in the morning and afternoon. Starting to-day the 10.23 a.m. and the. 2.33 p.m. from Lyttelton to Ghristchurch, and the 11.0. a.'m. and' the 2.10 p.m. from Christchurch to ■Lyttelton will not run;^ The Port Foil, The port was working almost-to full capacity on Saturday and there-was a shortage of labour. Although many. non-unionists "were employed, . some vessels were short manned. The Federal liner Somerset had ohly one gang .working, and the Gplden West was also short. The departures were, four. SmalL coastal ships, and the. ferry, steamer, ,and with yesterday's arrivals are* •at present .six overseas vessel?,,' "four, coastal • steamers and one .inter-Colonial steamer in: port. A': phosphate ship is- • due at mid-day to-day, bringing the number of overseas vessels up to seven. It is hoped "io djspatch two of them, together with four coastal-vessels, to-day. The waterfront, will be. very busy uptil the latter part of the week. •; Oddfellows' Dance. To, celebrate the eightieth anniversary of -the founding of-thV lodge, members of the Loyal City of Norwich Lodge held a dance in the Oddfellows'' Hall on Saturday evening. A novel and pleasing-effect was attained'in the decorations, and dance music was pro-, vided by the Herdman-Fisk orchestra. The N.G., Bro. A. A.- Keyes, was M.C. The visitors included Messrs .H. Ryder, District Grand Master, and W. T. Foster, District !
