ROAD BOARD.
MOUNT HUTT. . The monthly meeting of the Mt. Hutt Road Board was held on Tuesday, when Mr F. W. Ruddenklau presided. There were also present—Messrs D. Hampton, C. A. Campion, R. J, S. Wilson, and A. F. Harr. The clerk reported that th# maintenance staff was still on repair work at Waimarama road. The increased output of; shingle, made availablo by the use of the new elevator, was very considerable. Bate demands for the current year had been posted, and up to date £lsl 8s Id had been received in rates. In reference to Mr J. H. Stones demand for payment for banking the Dry creek at Waimarama. the clerk reported that » very satisfactory job had been made of the work. Messrs Garrick and Co. wrote on behalf of Mrs H. McGirr and Messrs S. W. Anderson and R. Holland, asking the Board to form and shingle a portion of the rood running from the railway line to the back of the Olunes Settlement. .It was stated that the work referred to was authorised by the Board some years ago. It was decided to have the road graded as soon as possible, end to defer the Bhingling until later. The Methven branch of the New Zealand Plunket Society wrote asking for a grant towards the Society's annual appeal. It was decided to make a grant of £3 3s. Applications to ploiigh road frontages for the eradication of gorse were granted to Messrs H. Vallance and F. G. Oldfield. Mr Samuel Cos wrote asking the Board to shnigle a portion of Cross road, from Urrall Station, which is now in a bad state. It was decided to have the road graded as soon as possible. Transfers from W. 0. Hobbs to W. J. Cooksley, R. W. Stephen to F. E. S. Stephen, W. T and C. A. Campion to R. E. Cairns, E. M. and A. M. Campion to C. A. Campion, S. Buckets to A. J. It. Anderson, and Margaret M. Buckett to Shearer Bros., were approved. A deputation consisting of Messrs Brunsden and Stapleton waited on the Board in reference to the unsatisfactory state of Carnow street. Laurlston. They asked that th© street be shingled, and that the water-race be piped. The Board decided to shnigle 2£ chains of Carnow Btreet and to pipe the water-race complained of.
