DEATH UNDER ANAESTHETIC.
EVIDENCE AT INQUEST. (FBSSS ASSOCIATION TZLKGBAM.) > PALMERSTON N., September 8. i An inquest was lield this morning 1 concerning tiffe death of Charles Edmund Meller, which occurred while bo was undergoing an operation .in the public hospital on Monday. Medical evidence was given that Meller had been in hospital for four, months suffering from an exophthalmic goitre. During the operation the patient's condition caused a temporary stoppage .for resuscitation. Later .he ' collapsed, and died from failure of ! the right muscle ol the heart, lne operation was a dangerous one, ana-, for that reason extra; time was spent i on preparing him for it. ' The Coroner's verdict was given 111 accordance .with the medical evidence, and he added ' that every care had been taken in the preparation of the patient, and the administration uf wie anesthetic. The history of the case indicated that the operation was at-, tended with' grave risks.
