OLD BOYS' CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the High School Old Boys' Amateur Athletic Club wag held last evening, Mr L. Smith presiding over a good attendance. •

In moving the adoption of the annual report the chairman stated that the club was looking forward to a steady growth in strength and membership during the coming seasou. More of the boys leaving High School would, he hoped, run for the Old Boys' Club, members of which were spending some time in coaching the boys prior to the school sports each year. The club had suffered a great loss by the recent death of Mr N. Parker, who for very many years had been actively connected with athletics in general, and with the Old Boys' Club in particular, acting as coach for several seasons. It had been suggested, he said, that Mr Parker's outstanding services should be recognised by a trophy for competition ®t the school sports, to be known as the Parker Memorial," and many old boys had approved wholeheartedly of the proposal. He suggested that a committee, consisting of Messrs W. M. Stewart, F. H. Blackmore, J. McFarlane, J. R. Crawshaw, L. E. and L. omith, be appointed to make arrangements for the donation of a trophy. The suggestion wus approved. On the suggestion of Mr \V. M. Stewart, it was decided that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee that an Old •Boys Harrier Club be formed. Mr 4. I). Tench, president of the Old Boys Association, stated that the old boys were proposing to hold a field day at the school on Labour Day, when the inclusion m? programme could be made. The election ot officers resulted as follows:—Club captain, Mr L. Smith; hon. secretary and twasurer, Mr L. E. Smith; hon. auditor, Mr P. N. Smith; committee. Messrs A. Parker, J. R. Crawshaw, J. Mclarlane, A. Wickes, C. It. Boyd, J. K. Martin, G L. Angus; delegates to the Canterbury Centre, Messrs L. Smith and J. McFarlane.

TECHNICAL CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The Technical College Amaiear Athletic Club met last evening. Mr C. Yates presided, and therg was a large attendance of members. The annual report, which was adopted, recorded with expressions of regret the death of Mr A. W. Page Mr Pago had been the walking coach and a vice-president of the club.

The women's eoction of the club had proved most successful, rind members bad -gained more places than any other clubs in Chnstchurcb. Miss K. Callinan had represented the province at the New Zealand championships. Considerable success had been met with at evening and country meetings, members gaining places in fie'd. trade, women's, and cycling events It wet gratifying to note the success of one of the club's members, >C. J. Thompson, Who had won trophies in every race in which he had competed in Dunedin, where he was stationed. Tile , club's champion athleteß were: —Men: T. S. Simp3on Women: Miss K. Callinan. The club membership now stood at 163, 30 new members having joined last season. The finances were in a fairly good position, the balance-sheet showing a credit of JEII 3d 9d. The thanks of the club wero due to its numerous helpers, officials, and others who had assisted during the season. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patrons, Dr. D. E. Hansen and Mr •McGregor Wright; president, Mr D. Arnott; club captain, Mr A. B. Clartc; deputy-cap-tain, Mr W. Hughes, jun.; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. Sanderson; committee, MiHses A. Hughes, L. Alexander, and F. M Howarth, Messrs F. T. J. French, E. A. Smith, C. W. Welch, L. R. Harrington, T. S. Simpson, and A. A. Taylor; delegates to the Canterbury Centre, Messrs C. Yates, A. B. Clark, and C. Sanderson; delegate to Past and Senior Students' Association, Mr W. Hughes, jun.; hon, auditor, Mr R. J. McLaren; eciiior coach, Mr A. B. Clark; assistant coaches, Messrs C. Sanderson, W. Harrington, F. Blakeway. W. Hughes, and Miss O. F. Booth.

It was decided to commonc# training on September 15th. ;
