Eight men were injured, more or less seriously, when 200 waterside workers fought a pitched battle with about 43 labourers at a South Melbourne whirf to-day. The trouble occurred during the unloading of timber from the steamer Nordhvaal. The labourers - who comprised the shore gang were chased along the wharf, knocked down, and kicked. Several, who were unconscious, were removed in ambulances to hospital. The police arrived too late to make any arrests.
