RICHMOND SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
At the monthly ineitui?: of the Richmond School Committee, the following member, were present:—Messrs James Stuart (chairmain), Petrie, Fraser, Mills, Hutchison, Stewart and the secretary. Mr H. F. Penlington (headmaster) was also present. The secretary was instructed to write Mr Macbrayne conveying the . committee's, sympathy in the sudden illness of his wife and daughter. A letter was received from the .School Committees' Association dealin" with pari 1. of ttw Education Committees report. Mr Hutchison moved and Mr Eraser seconded thai this be referred back to the Association. Mr Hutchison again brought up the question of hot drinks for infant scholars, and it was decided to form a sub-committee consisting of Messrs Hutchison, Mille, and Stewart, who would gather all information possible and present a report at the ITebruarv meeting of' the committee. The headmaster reported that the present roll was 519 and the average attendance ,474. Ihe Cancer Fund Appeal resulted •in • the sum o£_£3 1b 8d being collected by the scholars. The drum and fife band continued to make progiess under thp tuition of Mr Brown. A letter was received from the East Christchmch School Committee giving the following particulars of operations carried out at the dental clinic; Amalgam fillings 8, extractions 3, and minor operations 4.
