TRIBESMEN BOMBED. PUNITIVE EXPEDITION MOOTED. (united press association—bt electric TELEGRAPH —COPYRIGHT.) . (Received August Sth, 8.23 p.m.) DELHI, August 7. For the second time in two months Peshawar has been menaced by hostile tribesmen. 'All the British and Indian troops in the.district have been mobilised. The Afridis are •' estimated to number five thousand and have been observed proceeding through the passes in the direction of the. Khajuri Plain. Six squadrons. of aeroplanes were dispatched to bomb the raiders. The machines ■ were flying low, using machine • guns with deadly effect, and driving the tribesmen to the shelter of the roelcs and caves. The opinion is expressed that it will be necessary to send an expedition across the border into, the tribal territory in the autumn when better weather is experienced in order to deal finally with the malcontents.
