FATAL FALL.

INQUEST OPENED. An inquest into the death of Sydney George Pope, who died in the Hospital on Sunday from injuries received when he fell down the stairs at the Empire Cafe, earlier in the day, was opened before the Coroner, Mr H. A. Young, yesterday. Evidence of identification was given by John Wright Fletcher. Pope, he said, was 83 years old, and was a retired bank messenger. Witness and _ he lived in the same building at 217 Lichfield street. Pope used to have his meal 3at the Empire Cafe. He was shaky in his legs, and walked with a stoop. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
