[ (Advt.) DEAR MR McLACHLAN,— I You are a candidate for the City | Council. You are also, we believe, a 1 lawyer. That being so, you ought to i know a few tilings about public fe affairs. But we are disappointed in yota, Mr McLachlan. That statement of yours about the Abattoirs was really too bad altogether in an aspirant for Municipal honours. You said that the Abattoirs could be left . - to private enterprise. But don't you know, Mr McLachlan, that the City is compelled by Statute Law to provide and run Abattoirs? The City has no choice in the matter. You should know better than to talk as you did. Mr Thurston is just a working man, but he has not made such blunders. Yes, we are disappointed in you. We suspect, too, that you would use the Cite Council as a stepping stone to Parliamentary honours. It was hard on Mr Kyle, the Reform member for Riccarton, that the Reformers on the v, Citizens' Association should have : nominated you. A vote for McLachlan at ths Municipal Election is nearly | . equal to a vote against Kyle at the Parliamentary Election. All in all, we think that Mr Thurston will suit us better, and we recommend the electors to vote for Mr Thurston on Wednesday.
