TIMARU PLOUGHING MATCH

SEVENTEENTH ANNUAL COMPETITIONS. Tho seventeenth annual Competitions conducted by tho Timaru Ploughing Match Association were held on Mr Donald Grant fl farm at Washdyke to-day. Owing to rain in the morning the attendance wftn affected to so mo extent, but in the afternoon, which wan bright and fine, there was a large attendance. The Rate receipts Amounted to £OO, compared with Inst year's record of £8». Tho entries in the horse ploughing, and in tho dog trials, wcro about the samo as thoso of last year, but there was a decline in tho ontrios in the tractor class. The ploughing was well up to the usual standard, tho goneral work being good. The. Timaru Pipo Band was in attendance, At tho conclusion of tho match Mr Clyde Oarr, M.P., who was introduced by tho president (Mr W. J. Bas* sett), presented the prlaes.
