PRESENTATION OP CUPS.
The annual social promoted by the Oxford A. and P. Association for tho presentation of challenge and other cups won at the recent- show, and to bring tho members arid their families together for a social evening, was held in the Town Hall. Tho president (Mr J. T. Croy) presided. Mr W. J. Skurf was M.C,, and Miss Paget presided at the piano. The evening was spent in dancing, interspersed by songs by Messrs T. Neylon alid T. James. Before making the presentations the president congratulated the winners, and expressed appreciation of the practical assistance of outside exhibitors. Mr A. Meyers (chairman of the County Council), a member of the Association since its inception, twentyfive years ago. spoke interestihgly of tho first and early slloWs. He paid a tribute to the late Mr J. O.'Halloran, by whose foresight the show grounds had been secured. In the early days, said Mr Meyers, they had A bontinuiil chnnae of secretaries, but for the last nineteen years they had retained their present secretary, who had contributed largely to the present satisfactory con. ditioiis obtaining. Cuds were presented as follows: — Parish cUp for most points ih draught horse J. Gritrisoy, who also won the Clydesdale horse society's cup for the best yearling or two-year-old colt Or filly. . The Oxford challenge cup for the best tWo-veftr-old colt or filly or geld(5. Cross. . The Oxford Jockey Clnb'a cup for light horses —"VV. B. Starky. The Eyredale cUp, for pohy J2slorto7j; ? . Mtb J. !R. Gorton's cup fof fat sheep —Krid McGrath. Feary eup for flock sheep—Eric MoGrath.
The John Ingram enp for purebred sheep wns won by James Reid, who also won the John Cross memorial cup foimost points in horses, sheep, and cattle. . . The Southdown group cup, presented bV Mr tv. .E, Meyers, for the best group of. gouthdowns (ram. ewe. ram lambs, andewe lamb) was won by W. J. Jen* kin's. ..•/no also, won the Southdown Sheep Societv's medal for the best twotootti Southdown ram.
