FRUITGROWERS.
-—— DOMINION CONFERENCE. (tbbss association txusgbam.) J WELLINGTON, July 4. The view that foreign fruit should be kept off the English market while New Zealand fruit was in the country was expressed at the Fruitgrowers Conference to-day, when it was suggested that representations should b© made to the Prime Minister to bring the matter before the Imperial Confcrotico* The "subject was introduced by Mr J. H. Brunt (Nelson), who suggested that the restriction should obtain in the months of April, June, and July* The president. Mr T. C. Brash, said there was a growing tendency iu favour of protecting the portions or the Empire which were trading with the Old Country. It was probable that the proposal instead of any preferential tariff would meet the position. The conference was unanimous in tne view as put forward bv Mr Brunt.
