CORRESPONDENCE.
Correspondents who do not comply. with oar rules set out in the last column of our leader page will excuso us from noticing their letters. "J.E.," Hinds—lf permanently disabled and in receipt of a permanent pension, a returned soldier may have his pension capitalised for a specified _ period, but only if the money is required for the purpose of starting in business, or for improving or extending tho business in which the returned soldier is engaged. If the property proposed to be purchased is for residential purposes the application will not be entertained. However, many returned soldiers who have had their pensions capitalised have failed in the business they have undertaken, and applicants require therefore to put up a very strong case, if they are to be successful in having their applications granted. In the event of failure of the business, the returned soldier's pension cannot bo reinstated until the amount granted has been repaid by instalments. If the applicant's- life is not insured in a sufficient amount to. provide security to. the Pensions Department for the amount advanced it will bo necessary for the applicant to take out additional cover, or, if not insured, take out a policy sufficient to provide the security required. The 'procedure is" to make application to the Ke<rietrar of Pensions at the nearest centre. The applicant ' mutt set out definitely the purpose for which the money is' required, and that purpose must be, definitely, to enter into business, or to improve or extend the applicant's business. "Lons Kick"—Nepia's kick is said to have been about 55 yards. We have no record of the other kicks mentioned. "Fairplay."—Unsafe.
