As a result of a report •by a special subcommittee, alterations to tho time-tabl© for the Diamond Harbour ferry service havo been authorised by the Council as from Monday next. The early trip has been retained, but the 5.45 from Lyttelton and the 6 p.m. from Diamond Harbour havo been withdrawn, except,on Saturdays. Other alterations include the • reinstatement of the 4.25 p.m. from Lyttelton and the 4.10 p.m. from Diamond Harbour. Magistrate's Court. Mr H. A. Young, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. John McNeil was convicted and fined £2 and 3Os costs for procuring liquor during vhe currency of his prohibition order. For a ehoilar offence Daniel Vance was convicted and fined £■! and 10s costs. Isabella Crocker proceeded against .her husband, Edward .Robert Crocker, for the recovery of £64 ■ arrears of maintenance to May 26th. Defendant admitted tha arrears, but said he had not been in constant work. It was stated that defendant had made no payments since March 20th. Ho was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended as long as he pays 10s a week off the arrears in addition to current maintenance of £2 per week, the first payment to be made to-morrow. In a civil claim, J. T. Norton, Ltd., v. H. G. Priest, judgment was given for the plaintiff for £22 3s by default, with costs £1 14s and solicitor's fee £2 16s.
lodge .Meeting. The half-yearly meeting of the Loyal City of Norwich Lodge. M.U., 1.0.0.P., was held on Tuesday, N.G. Bro. B. Strachan presiding over a good attendance. One new member was initiated. Sick pay amounting to £6B 5s and accounts '£'2Bo 18s 2d were passed for payment. As invitation from the Loyal Kaia Toa Lodge to attend its next meeting was accepted. The election of officers resulted as follows:—l.P.N.G., Bro. E. Strachan; N.G., Bro. A. Kayes; N.G., Bro. J. Gilder; E.S.P.G.. Bro. W. C. G. Taylor; 1.G., Bro. D Lester; 0.G.. Bro. W. H. Harsent. It was decided to invite the Loyal Kaia Toa Lodge to attend tho next meeting, being the installation of officers. A tetter was sent to Loyal Waiwcra Lodge, Little River, thanking them for the splendid evening given the Lyttelton Lodge on a recent visit. The retiring 1.P.N.G., Bro. W. I. Bradley, will bo presented with a framed certificate next Lodg« Bight.
liTttaUon Club Ball. '- ' The Lyttslton Club's annual TxOl took place last evening in the Club, Hall, and was a highly successful function. Special attention had been paid to the decorations and ,to the lighting effects, which were carried out in autumn tints. Danco • music ■was provided by the Bailey-Marston Band and.
