A German flag, ag©»worn and more or less inobh-oatort, wag found at Rangiotu several weeks ago, tt was stated that the Samoan Foree who later joined the Rifle Brigade, whioh was in camp at Uangiotu, smuggled the flag back us a souvenir and- when he left for the front, tho writer handed it to a Rangiotu n»si* dent for safe keeping, The soldier ha« net so far returned and the ftangiotu resident recently died in the belief that the flag might be the Historic one taken down from the German headquarters at Apia. It is asserted that the soldier owning it claimed that it was. Relatives of the ttangiotu m» sident had it handed over to the Pal* mersten North Returned Soldiers' Association, whioh is now making enquiries. An examination of th« flag at the edges. It ha* not the ea crest and may have been the property ,of a private German resident and aot the' flag it is-claimed to be.
