BREAKING AND ENTERING.
TWO MEN PLEAD GUILTY. i (PRESS ASSOCIATION TBLEOKAK.) PALMERSTON N., May 14. J In the Magistrate's Court, Thomas Melrose and Nelson Hayes were • charged with breaking and entering by night the premises of Thomas Ireton, a jeweller in Cuba street, with intent , to commit a crime. Giving evidence, Ireton said that a hole was made in a plate glass window on the night of May 9th, l»ut that, so far as he knew, nothing had been stolen. Constable Thompson gave evidence as to seeing the accused in the street on the night of the occurrence. When spoken to in the street, they denied knowledge of the affair, but afterwards at the police station admitted the offenoe The accused pleaded guilty and were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
