SHIPPING NOTES. The Breeze arrived last evening from Wanganui direct. She will load here to-day for Dunedin, Oamaru, and Timaru, and is due back on Tuesday to load for Wellington and Wanganui. "The Foxton is due abont noon to-day from Foxton, and is to sail this evening. on. the return trip. ■'

The Regulus arrived yesterday afternoon from Torakohe with cement. She is to take in cargo here to-day for Nelson, Westport, and Greymouth. The Canadian Conqueror is due to-day from 1 Wellington to discharge and load, and is to sail to-morrow for Timaru and Dunedin. She will aUo load at Wellington and Auckland, and is to sail from Auckland on May 28th | for New York, Boston, and Halifax. The Wainui is due this morning from Dunedin, Oamaru, and Timaru. She loads for Napier and Gisborne, and sails via Wellington. The Wingatui should arrive to-day from Dunedin and Timaru to load for Auckland. Tho Golden Cross is to sail to-day for Tiroarn and Dunedin to complete discharge. The Kaimanawa wbb to leave Auckland yesterday for Portland to load cement for t Wellington and Lyttelton. On completion of discharge here she will load for Auckland and sail via Picton. The Katoa is expected on Wednesday from Auckland and Wellington, and sails tho same day for southern ports. The Kuku should be back to load here on Monday for Nelson and nearby ports. The Totara is due here on Tuesday from Dunedin and will load for New Plymouth, sailing via Wellington. Tho Karepo should arrive on Saturday from Westport. and after discharging a part cargo of coal will sail for Timaru and Bluff to complete. The Cygnet is due to-night from Kaikoura and Wellington, and loads here to-morrow for those ports. The A. and A. Line steamer City of Christiania is due at Lyttelton to-day from Wellington to discharge New Tork cargo. Prom this port she proceeds to Dunedin and Australia. The Gale is timed to load here to-morrow for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The John is due on Sunday from the north and loads on Monday for Now Plymouth and Waikato. The Himatangi is expected on Sunday, and takes in cargo on Monday for Wellington and Wanganui. -The'Waipiata was an arrival yesterday from Auckland and Wellington. She sailed last evening for Dunedin, Bluff, Oamaru, and Timaru, and is due back on Thursday to load for' Auckland. Captain S. A. Chatfield has been appointed to the command of the Tofua, relieving Captain A. H. Davey, who has transferred to tho command of the Narbada, relieving Captain B. Harris for instructions. Captain J. F. S. Brown, recently of the Marama, is now on holiday-leave at Sydney. Mr H. S. Collier has relieved Mr J. D. Lundie, chief officer of the Tofua, on holidays. Mr 8. O. Angus has joined the Katoa as chief officer relieving Mr C. H. M. Long, who is awaiting instructions. Mr J. B. Gibson has been reappointed second officer of the Tofua, relieving Mr L. Sinclair for further orders. Mr P. D. Thompson is now second officer of the Kaponga, and Mr P. J. Cochrano is proceeding to Melbourne on holidays. Mr D. CI. N. Champion has been appointed second officer of the Kahika. Mr J. V. Broadhouse has relieved.Mr T. . Stevenson, third officer of tho Waikawa, for holidays. Mr J. C. R. Sadloir .has rejoined the Makura as third officer, relieving Mr D. A, Monlove for further instructions. Tho Tainui, en route from Southampton, sailed from Balboa oh Sunday afternoon for 'Auckland, where she is due on June Ist. The C. and D. Line advise that the Port Sydney is now due at Wellington to-day from Wanganui to complete her Homeward loading. She is scheduled to clear Wellington on Saturday for London and Montevideo. News has been received by the Union Company that the Mahono, from Bluff, arrived at Melbourne at 8 a.m. on Saturday. She will leavo again at 10 a.m. to-day for Bluff and Dunedin. On her arrival a,t Dunedin Bhe will withdraw for annual overhaul arid survey. The Now Zealand Shipping Company's liner Ruahine is to sail to-day for Wellington for further loading. She will leave again on Saturday for Gisborne and Auckland to fill up, and is scheduled to clear the northern port, at daybreak on May 27th for Southampton and London, via the Panama Canal. Tho Shaw. Savill Company has received a mossage from the motor-ship Taranaki. reporting that she expects to arrive at New Plymouth at daybreak to-day from Townsville to commence her Homeward loading. She will subsequently load at Auckland, Napier, and Wellington. The vessel is due at Wellington on May 27th, and is scheduled to clear that port on May 81st for Southamptori and London, via Panama. The Aberdeen and Commonwealth liner Largs Bay, which was due at Sydney on Monday from London, has the following passengers for New Zealand: —The Rev. R. Preston, Mrs M. McPhillips, Mr L. J. McPhillip's, Miss L. P. MacDiarmid, Miss N. Campbell, Miss H. B. Bailey, Mrs E. J. Edwards, Mr D. J. Thomson, Mr and Mrs R.- P.. Christom, Mrs Jones and two children, Mrs and Miss Perry. Passengers' for New Zealand ■on the P. and'O. liner Maloia which is due at Sydney to-day from London, are: —Mr A. B. Campbell and Mr T. 0. S. Davies, Miss M. Howling, and Messrs H. T. and F. 0. Merritt.
