In the Diggers' Handicap Ravine and Seventh Heaven were last to move from the barrier, Lord Middleton, Gourmet, and Fortalice showing out first. Lord Middleton led the held past the stand. At the hack he was still in command, with Bavins, Seventh Heaven, and Gourmet next. At the bend Ravine was a neck ahead of Lord Middleton and Gourmet faded out. In the run home Fortalioe came with a well-timed run to beat Ravine by » length. Repine, who came with a late buret, was half a length bask, followed by Lord Middleton, Gourmet, and Seventh Heaven. In the Stewards' Handicap Atone end Tariff delayed the start, the former being ultimately left at the post. Tariff, Arrowmaid, and Deluge were quickest away end led the field in that order to the back, where Arrowmaid moved to the front and went on to win comfortably by two lengths from Deluge. The Dove, who moved feet when the straight was reached, ran Deluge to a held. Arrowmir, who was fourth, never looked dangerous. Deluge's impost and the heavy going stopped him. The weight favoured Arrowmaid, who ran a nice race. Tariff finished well baok. The Progress Trot was, after the field settled down, a procession. Adjuster started smartly, led all the way, and wee never seriously threatened. Worthy Girl was in a good position all the way, but could make no impression on the winner. Passing the stand the first time Undertaker, Vesta Rey, Worthy Girl, and Kawana were behind Undertaker A collision with Irene de Oro saw Flying Kate, who was going well, lose her driver just after passing the stand. There* was no change in the leading division along the back, and in the run home Adjuster, Worthy Girl, Undertaker, Red Comet, Kawana, and Val Logan passed the post in that order. The Irving Memorial Handicap saw the Greymouth double winner, Baby Bun, who was made a hot proposition, carrying nearly half the investments, strike her colours and finish out of a place. Courtlike, Quarterdeck, and Gold Bag made the early running, and Quarterdeck's chance passing the stand looked rosy. An unfortunate slip at the turn, where she nearly lost her rider, spoilt her chance, and left Courtlike and Gold Bag at the head of affairs, with Baby Bon and Fairy Tidings racing together some lengths behind. In the run home Courtlike and Gold Bag had a big break, and, fighting every foot, Gold Bag forged gradually ahead to secure a narrow verdict. Fairy Tidings was six lengths back, two lengths in front of Baby.Bun. Then came Quarterdeck and Wreath of Myrtle. The going did not suit Baby Bun, who was not dangerous at any stage. Wreath of Myrtle wan out of her class. In the Alexander Handicap Rlna Mengu led from start to finish, and made the field look cheap. She hopped out from the barrier smartly, by Sagittarius, Fair Go and Turnover. At the back Turnover wn's third and Sagittarius was done with. With heads turned for home Rina Manga widened the gop from Fair Go and won in hollow fashion by six lengths, Turnover beinf? three-quarters of a length behind the second horse. In the High-Weight Handicap, Landmark, Corinthic, Gold Mint, and Ardfinnan, were first to show out, the first-named leading past the stand. Running into the back Ardfinnan moved up into second place, and before reaching the home bend had a neck advantage of Landmark, and Corinthic was passed by Lord Middleton. In the straight Ardfinnan had tho race in hand, and Gold Mint strongly challenged Landmark, who lasted lons enough to hold his position two leneths behind Ardfinnan. Gold Mint was a leneth away third, followed by Lord Middleton, Corinthic. and Fairy Tidings. Tenedos had the easiest of victories in the Reefto/i Trot. Flying Kate, Vests Bay, Val Logan, and Vican were quickest to. move, and raced past the stand ia. order, with Teuedoe rapidly overhauling them. Going out of the straight the field hunched and hsd to ease up to prevent en accident. Flying Kate went to the front, closely followed by Val Logan, and after a gap came Tortedos and Worthy Girl. With a burst of speed Tenedos soon overhauled Flying Kate and Val Logan. Entering the straight the three were abreast. Tenedos, boring.

in, caused Flying Kate to hit and dislodge the inside nil, whiob flew in front of Val Logan, bringing him down/ but without injuiy to horee or driver. Tenedos wont on to win with case by two lengths from Flying Kate, Guy Denver coming with a late run into third place and Vican finishing fourth. Vesta Ray, after being well placed m the early stages, finished in the ruck. The Judicial Committee called S. A. Edwards, the driver of Tenedos, before them to answer a protest by T. G. Lynch, the driver of Flying Kate, for boring at the entrance to the straight After hearing the evidence the committee decided that the incident did not affect the result of the *ace and took no action. The Farewell .Handicap provided the best race of the day, also the biggest betting pool. Smithereens, the top weight and favourite, was last to leave the barrier and was never in the hunt. Kentish Lady, Quillfire, Fortalico, and Corinthic we're first out from a good dispatch, and Quillfire led the field past the stand. At the bend Fortalice took charge from Quillfire and Corinthic and The Dove moved up. Along the back Fortalioe headed off Quillfire, who appeared to have a winning chance, and Atone moved up to the leaders. With heads turned for home Quillfire cried enough and Fortajice romped home baTd held three lengths dear of Corinthic, who was half a length in front of The Dove. Then a couple of longths back came Rina Mangu, Smithereens, Kentish Lady, and Quillfire, with Atone a bad last.
