ATTEMPTED ARSON.
COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. (FHESS ASSOCIATION TBLXOBAM.) AUCKLAND, April 25. "I consider I was.robbed so far as the price of the house was, concerned, and on account of this and worry from sickness I deoided to burn the house down when my wife and family were away," said Edward Harold Alexander, aged 27, confectioner, "in _a statement to the' police produced ia Court on Thursday. Alexander was charged with wilfully attempting to set fire to a house at Onehunga, owned by the State Advances Department,- and occupied by aim. Accused admitted the charge. Police evidence was to the effect that a neighbour discovered a candle* left burning in the house '.- Detective-Sergeant, ■„ Kelly sa|d. acr cused would not have gained anything by the fire. The bouse was under * mortgage to the-State Advances Department. Alexander was committed to the Supremo Court for sentence.
