SCHOOLS' JUBILEE.
esterday morning' all visiting old boys and old girla -of the Timaru High Schools were taken for a motor run through South Canterbury, and the principal attraction in the afternoon was a garden party at the Girls' High pcnool. In the evening a concert was held at the Boys' School. Main School. TEMUKA.
Another pioneer of the early days of Ohape (Milford) and Temuka has passed away in the person of Mrs Jessie Maze (widow of the late Mr John Maze) in her 80th year. The late Mrs Maze was born at Aberdeen .in 1850, ajid with her parents (Mr and Mrs John Brown, of Aberdeen), and the other members of the family, came to New Zealand in 1869., r jfih,e family settled at Ohape (Milford) sobn after arrival. In 1874 Miss Jessie Brown was married to Mr John Maze, who predeceased * her in 1904. ''l/eft with a large family. Mrs Maze carried on undaunted the responsibilities of her motherhood, and the toil and difficulties of pioneer farming. She: lived in the same homestead for upwards of 56 years.. She is survived by three sons *—John and Peter (Ohape) and Francis (Seadown), and five daughters—Mrs Paul Bates (Timaru), Mrs J. J. McGempsey (Christchurch), Mrs A. E. (Akaroft), Miss A. Maze (Ohape), and Miss Grace Maze (Christchurch).
The South Islarfd Baptist Young Men's Bible Class camp, which was held in the Temuka Domain during Easter, broke up on Monday evening. Mrs M. Counihan, who has been the ftuest of Mrs J. Counihan, McNair's road, left yesterday for, Kurow,, en route to Dunedin. Miss S. Mills, who spent the Easter holidays in -Christchurch, has returned to Temuka. Mr and Mrs R. Lee, accompanied T>y their daughter Barbara, are spending a holiday at Hanmer.
PEEK* FOREST.
The popularity of Peel Forest' as a holiday resort has increased considerably this season. Several new baches have been built. Credit is also due to the Mt. Peel Reserve Board who have the best interests of the beautiful reserve at heart. The building of the large shelter shed last season, with its excellent fireplaces for boiling water, has been greatly appreciated, and lately, in conjunction with the Geraldine County Council, fe furthej improvement has been made. Several visitora to Orari Gorge apeiib part of their time pig-hunting in the heavy bush daring Easter; • The annual meeting of the Peel Forest Park Board was held In the Peel •-Forest Library. Present:; Mr J. M. H. Tripp (chairman), Dr. H. T. D. Acland, •Messrs D. H. Acland, B. Withell, W. A. McPhail, and W. Osman. On the motion of Mr Acland the . report and balaneersheet were adopted. Correspondence was received, from . Government •Departments • and from Mr L. 0. H. Tripp (Wellington) in connexion with wekas for the Park. WINCHESTER.
T The Winchester Tennis Club brought a successful' season to a close on! Saturday last with the holding of a match between the married and the single members'of the), club. Unfortunately it was impossible to complete all the games, „• but as a result of those that were finished, the malrried' team won by two gataes.. Mr G. Burborough, captain of the married team)l won the trophy for the member <> making the highest score in the matchi / The Education Board's workmen havemade a start with- the repairs to the Wiflcheqjer School. The School Committee .have applied for the temporary use of a floored marquee to accommodate the extra classes until further additions are made to the school.

The fortnightly social was held in the'Orari Bridge Hall, when there was a good attendance. The prizes were won by and Mr Kelly. Music for the' dance was supplied by Mrs Whiting; and Mr W. Lord was M.C.
ORARI.
Mr and Mrs R. M. Innes (Orari) left on Sunday Sor Christchurch, where they are spending a short holiday. Miss Grant tßpreydon. Christchurch) spent the lister with her relatives in Orari and GeralEaster services at the Orari Anglican Church were conducted on , Sunday morning by the Rev. &. Brittan, ot Christchurch, when a communion service was held. In the evening service was read. in.the absence of Archdeacon Purchase, by Mr G. A. Mcdonald.''The church had been prettily decorated with flowers and autumn leaves; and bright Easter hymns were sung.
WOODBURY.
Miss Edna Thompson, who has been spending the week-end with friends in Woodbury, has returned to her home. Mr and Mrs H. Hammond, of Rangiora spent the. week-end in Woodbury. ARUNDEL.
There .a good attendance at the Howard Hall, Arundel, on Saturday evening, the occasion being the second fortnightly, social. Mra J. Charles and Mrs W. McDonald tied for the ladies'» prize, and in the play-off Mrs Charles was the winner. The men's prize was won by Mr Lewis, to playoff with Mr Clements. Miss Gould ana Mr. J. Turton secured the consolation prizesi Music for .the dance was supplied bv Messrs Johnston, Pringle and Popplewell, and Mr Foster was M.C. A movement is on foot to form »| sVomen's Institute At Arundel.,
