CIVIC ORGANIST.
FAREWELL TO-NIGHT.
Mr Leslie V. Harvey bids farewell to Civio patrons to-night. His stay has been short, but during that time he has demonstrated "hi* ability not only as a cinema organist but also a "straight" organist whose work in tnis direction mot with an excellent reception, particularly when he officiated at the official opening of the organ.
The Civic Theatre closes down to-night for pictures to allow local musical societies and the Competitions Society the theatre for their respective concerts. Mr Gladstone Hill will be at the Civic again on June 6th, when the now organist, Mr Percy Burraston, will take his place at the console. Mr Burraston is an Englishman by birth, and has spent the last 15 years in Amorica, Canada, and Australia playing at the leading theatres in those countries. The foundation of his training as an organist was laid in England, and his experience in the Old Land, pins the countries mentioned, has been of great value to him. Mr Burraston has just rosigned from the Regent Theatre, Perth, Western Australia, and will arrive in Christcliurch on May Ist by the Maheno from Melbourne.
