• A queer sea snake was caught by Master Roy Pemberton on the beach in the direction of Welcome Bay recently, states the "New Zealand Herald's Tauranga correspondent. It was three feet three inches long, with a body that could be passed through a 7-8 inch ring. It was golden coloured on the back and white underneath. As far can be ascertained it is the first specimen of the kind that has been seen or found in the Tauranga Harbour.
