LIFE-SAVING.

An examination for the Royal Life Saving Society's surf medallion was held at North Beach on Wednesday evening, the examiners being Messrs W. Smith and A. T. Bolam. C. Riordan presented a team consisting of J. McDonald, G. Dew, P. F L. Scott, A. Taylor, D. H. Symes. and H. M S. Dawson, all of whom passed with credit. G. Dew is the first member of the local club to gain a bar to the surf medallion. Although the North Beach senior team will be away competing in the Kesteven Cu»» competition * to-morrow, arrangements havo been made for a sufficient number of swimmers to patrol the home beach.
