SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION. The Management Committee o£ the Suburban Cricket Association met last evening. Present—Messrs H. W. Rogers (chairman). H. M. Clark, G. T. Hillsdon, J. French, R. Potter, W. Lawson, H. Aris, J. Gordon, E. King, W. Cowlin, and W. C. Aitken. The chairman explained that the meeting had been called to discuss the ruling ot the Canterbury Cricket Association uP°n the Suburban Association Shield match between Malvern and Suburban Associations. The secretary reported that Malvern had first suggested that the match be played on January 9th and 10th, which was agree" to. The match commenced on January »tn at 1 p.m., and at the close ot tho first day s play some of the players stated that Malvern might desire to have the match extended to three days. The manager approached two members of tho Canterbury Association, both of whom stated that in their opinion, as the two competing Associations had agreed to a two-days' match, it would not be necessary to agree to an extension to the third day. Acting on the advice of the two gentlemen, the Suburban team manager adhered to the first arrangement of two days. The matter was discussed at length, and finally the following motion was carried:—"That this Association inform the Canterbury Cricket Association that they will endeavour to secure the same team to complete the match against Malvern if a suitable date can be arranged, but that this meeting regrets that the manager of the Association representative team in the match against Malvern was misled by two prominent members of the Management Committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association to such an extent that he adhered to an arrangemennt which was (according to the ruling now conveyed by the Canterbury Cricket Association) contrary to the rules governing the Sub-Association Shield matches, and further that the meeting disagrees with the ruling conveyed in the letter received from the Management Committee, inasmuch as the rules governing Shield matches distinctly state that Shield matches shall be limited to three days, and does not make it mandatory for any match to be played for three days. This Association asks that a ruling be obtained from the New Zealand Cricket Council through the Canterbury Cricket Association, with the object of avoiding similar mistakes in the future."
