The day, however, was fine. The barometer was high and steady. Wellington—An overcast morning gave place to a bright, sunny afternoon with a fair northerly breeze. The night was cloudy. Dunedin —Glorious summer weather. Sky almost cloudless, and 14 hours of bright sunshine recorded. Fresh breeze from northeast. Thermometer registered 74 degrees in the shade at noon. Barometer high early in the morning, but fell during the day. Forecast. Tho aiiti-cyclono is moving off Kew Zealand and a moderate depression is approaching from tho Tasman Sea. Tho forecast is for winds northerly and moderate to strong, PTalo force probable at times in parts of Cook Strait. Seas in New Zealand waters are likely to be rather rough in Cook Strait and rising south of Capo Egmont; elsewhere smooth to moderate. In tho Tasman Sea, fresh to strong northerly winds and moder-
ate to rathor rough seas; in the eastern Tasman, wcatber fail' at first, but 1 creasing liaze and cloudiness and conditions shortly becoming unsettled in western ana southern districts, with ruin commencing there and extending to other parts during the next two or three dflya. .temperatures will be warm.
