i . i The forty steamer Maori is to dock on I Monday for cleaning and painting, and will not take cargo at Wellington on Saturday or i at Lyttelton on Monday. The Canadian Challenger is due at Lyttelton on February 22nd from Timaru, and is to sail on February 24th for Wellington. The Holmdale is due this morning from Timaru to load for Wellington and Wanganui. She is due back on 'February 21st to load again for Wellington and Wanganuni. The Waipiata should arrive this morning from Auckland and Wellington, and sails again .this evening for Dunedin and Bluff. She is due back on Tuesday, via Timaru,' to load for Wellington and Auckland. The Gale is due to-morrow from Wellington and sails for Dunedin. The Calm is to load here on Friday for Wellington and Wanganui. ' The Kurow is due at Lyttelton on Friday from / Portland and Wellington with cement. The Federal liner Westmoreland -is due at Lyttelton to-morrow to load for London and West of England ports. She sails on Saturday. The Orepuki is expected at Lyttelton on Sunday from Tarakohe. She will discharge cement .and then load, for Nelson, Westport, and Greymouth. The Kanna is expected on Wednesday next from Westport with coal for the Union Company's hulks. The John should arrive here on Saturday from the north and takes in cargo for Wellington, Wanganui, New Plymouth, and Waikato. The Opihi is timed to load here on Wednesday next for Wellington, Nelson, and New Plymouth. ,
The Waipahi is due .on Saturday from Gisborne with sheep, and sails the same day for Dunedin. She is due back on Wednesday to load for Napier and Gisborne. The Progress should be here on February 20th from Timaru to take in cargo for Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato. The Karetu should arrive here on Friday from Sydney, via Dunedin. She sails about Saturday for Timaru, Bluff, and Sydney. The steamer June should arrive hero on Monday from Nauru Island with phosphates. She is to complete discharge at Port Chalmers. The Kaitoke is expected here on Tuesday from Auckland and Wellington, and sails the same day for Dunedin. The Katoa sailed yesterday for Wellington and Auckland. She is due at Lyttelton from Tolaga Bay on February 20th with sheep. A radio message from the Atlantic Union Oil Company's Diesel-electric tanker Brunswick, en route from Los Angeles, states that she expects to arrive at Auckland to-day. NEW CARGO STEAMER. LAUNCH OF TALUNE. LONDON, January 3. On December 30th the Blythswood Shipbuilding. Co., Ltd.,'Scotstoun, launched the singlescrew cargo steamer Talune, which they have built.to the order of the Union Steam Ship Co. of New Zealand. The vessel, which is 330 feet in length, 45 feet in breadth and 22 feet 3 inches in depth to.upper deck, is intended for general trading. She has one complete deck, with a lower deck in No. 1 hold, a forecastle, and a long combined poop and bridge, and is well equipped for the rapid handling of cargo, having 14 powerful winches, and coaling gaffs on each mast, in addition to the ordinary derricks. The main propelling ■ machinery will be supplied by Meßsrs E". and W. Henderson and Co., Ltd., Patrick, and will consist of one set of triple-expansion, inverted, direct-acting, surface-condensing engines, having cylinders 23iin, 40Jin, and 66in in diameter respectively, and a stroke of 45in. The cylindrical boilers working under forced draught and burning oil fuol will provide the steam. The vessel is designed for a normal average speed,* fully loaded, of 12 knots. PORT OF TIMARU. The Holmdale, from Oamaru, which arrived last evoning, left later for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Karepo, from Lyttelton, which arrived yesterday morning, sailed last night for Dunedin. She will now return from Dunedin on February 19th to load for Westport direct. The Cumberland, from Liverpool, via Bluff, is due on February 14th to discharge general cargo and to load return cargo for London. She will leave on February 19th for Wanganui, sailing finally from New Zealand about March 13th. The Calm, from Dunedin, is due on February 15tb to load for Lyttelton', Wellington, and Wanganui. The Karetu, from Lyttelton, is due on February 15th, and is to leave on that day for Bluff.
