As the first meeting of the recentlyelected Waimakariri River Trust is to l>e hold, on Wednesday, and as Messrs George Gould and J. A. Flesher are members of that body as well as delegates to the conference regarding the improved layout of Cathedral square, the conference which was to have met at 3 p.m. on Wednesday will meet at 3.30 p.m. The camp for South Island secondary schools N.C.O.'s at Burnham finished yesterday. Rain interfered with operations early in the week, and those who were not sitting for their commissions were issued with dry clothes and sent home on Wednesday last. Tho remainder struck camp yesterday after a very successful course. Yesterday the refresher course for Air Force pilot officers, which has been continued daily at Wigram Aerodrome for the past month, was brought to a conclusion with further gunnery and bombing practice at Lake Ellesmere. The nine officers left the aerodrome last evening after an enjoyable and instructive- course, in which they touched on many new aspects of flying and battle tactics. "Sunshine" Header Harvesters have commenced operations in wheat. Several hundred sacks of Tuscan have been threshed out at Amberley, and demonstrations will be advertised in a few days for that district. Tho sample has been certified by Mr West, of the Wheat Research, and pronounced in excellent all-round condition so far as moisture contents is concerned. All farmers in North Canterbury are urged to see this machine at work * next week, when notices of demonstrations will be published in this space next Monday.
