RUGBY LEAGUE DISPUTE.

OFFICIALS ASKED TO RESIGN. CONTROL OF MONICA PARK. Alleged failure by tho executive of the Canterbury Rugby League to comply with certain conditions about iiiiance laid down by the trustees of Monica Park (.Dr. H. T. J. 'Hunker, Mr E. L. McKeon, and Mr E. G. McCullouyli) has led to friction in Rugby League circles in Christehureh. Supporting the trustees, over seventy League players held a meeting lastThursday week and decided to ask the chairman of the Canterbury executive (Mr J. K. Worrall), the secretary u Vtr 8. M. Richardson), and tut treasurer (Mr L. G. Amos) to resign. The question of resignations, however, -vill hr.vo to be considered at a soejial meeting of delegates to the Rugby League. None ot the three trustees was presen> at the meeting of players. The trustees advised the executive that unless the conditions were complied with they would have to resign their positions as trustees. The law provides that a Supreme Court order is necessary before this can be done. When the matter was referred to Mr E. L. McKeon, secretary of the Monica Park Trust and also one of the trustee owners, he said that the trustees had nothing to say officially at present beyond stating that conditions had been made and that negotiations were in progress. If these broke down the position of the trustees would be explained publicly. The trustees had nothing to do with the action of the players in demanding the resignation of certain League officials. The three trustees of Monica Park are really its owners and they control not only the finances connected with the Park itself, but the whole of the finances of the Canterbury Rugby League. The resignation of the three officials of the executive named may make a way out of the present difficulties. Members of the League executive prefer to say nothing at present.
