Lord and Lady Latymer, who are well-known as deerstalkers in England, will arrive in New Zealand shortly, and while here intend to devote as much time as possible to their favourite sport. WEDDINGS. WILLIAMSON—CH APPLE. Friends of the bride were responsible for the decorations at the \\ esleyan Church, Edgeware road, for the wedding of Thelma, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. J. Chappie, Christchurch, to Alfred, second son of Mr and Mrs C. F. Williamson, Dunedin. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a model gown of shell pink lace over pink mariette, made with an uneven hem-line, deep, scalloped berthe collar, and narrow girdle with bow at the side. Her shell pink tulle veil was tightly swathed and finished with a large soft bow and a touch of real orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of roses, sweet peas, and maidenhaiT tern. Her bridesmaids were Mise L. Trewick and Miss L. Ward Culshaw, both of Wellington. They wore mariette frocks with uneven hem-lines, in powder blue and eau de nil respectively, and tulle scarves to match. The hats of silver lace crinoline had silver tissue crowns, and pink velvet rosebuds on the underbrim were banded with silver ribbon finished with true lovers' knots. Their bouquets were of pastel flowers and maidenhair fern. The bride's mother wore a smart frock of navy celaneso satin, with pipings and buttons of fawn, and a Bangkok fawn hat trimmed with navy. She carried a bouquet of deep cream and red roses. The best man was Mr J. Watt and the groomsman Mr W. Williamson (brother of the bridegroom), both of Dunedin. On leaving the church, the bride was presented with i\ silver horseshoe by her sister June, who wore a pale blue crepe de chine frock. The guests were subsequently entertained at a theatre party and reception. When the bride and bridegroom left for the Fox Glacier, Mrs Williamson wore a smart rose grey tailored costume and hat to tono.

j PARTY AT FENDALTON. Miss Betty Norris, who is to be married next week, was the guest of honour at a party given yesterday afternoon by Mrs E. J. Ghennells at her home, "Medbury," Fendalion. Before tea was dispensed an amusing competition was held, and was won by Miss Norris, who later opened her many curiouslyshaped parcels, which had been brought by the guests, and which each contained an article of kitchen equipment. Those present were Mrs J. B. Norris and Miss Betty Norris, Mrs E. G. Hogg and Miss Mary Hogg, Mrs T. H. Bruce, Mrs Stanley Jameson, Mrs W. Buss, Mrs Selby, Miss Joyce Buss. Miss Kathleen Hoare, Miss Gwen Fenwick, Miss Julia Scarvell, Miss Sally Willis, and Miss J. Thomas. KAIKOURA NOTES. Miss Elder, who has been spending a holiday in the south, returned to Kaikoura last week. Miss Dartnell. matron of the Kaikoura Hospital, leaves for Sydney next week for her annual holiday. Miss Lilian Andrew (South Canterbury) is at present the guest of Miss Mamie Barker, Esplanade. Mrs Leicester Harris is spending a short holiday in Christchurch. Miss Walker (Canterburv) hms been the guest of Mrs Warner, Schoolhouse. Mr F. H. Flower has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs O'Connell. who has been the guest of Mrs Jensen, Rudstone terrace, returned to Christchurch yesterday. The Rev. Mr and Mrs Redwell have returned home, after spending their annual holiday in the south. DANCE ASSEMBLY.

Stillwell's Dance Assembly will hold a naval carnival dance in the Caledonian Hall this evening, when streamers and balloons wil] be showered from "H.M.S. Danceland." Music for an excellent programme of dances will be supplied by Walton's Baud of eight instrumentalists. The gallery will be open to spectators, and supper will be free to the dancers.
