PROSPECTS OF CANTERBURY RINKS. (.THE PRESS Special Service.] j DL'NEDIX, January -0. When (he tournament commenced this morning the weather conditions were anything but ideal, a strong nur'-west wind blowwhich developed into a half gale. This was very troublesome on the Jlill greens, ; and at North £ast Valley it \w»s severely leK. and made bowling very hard indeed. ' About half-way through the firs! game a slight drizzle made things more awkward J still, but nevertheless the fifth round was \ completed. Some rather extraordinary scores were registered. even against first-class players, and naturally quite a number of surpr.ses took place. The sixth round was commenced under much more pleasant conditions, but after about eight heads had been played heavy rain set in, and in about an hour's time the irreens were flooded, which made further play impossible for the day. ( The Council has now decided to play off ] the two incompleted games in the morning:, and in the afternoon two games of 21 heads each will be played, which will still allow the orifi'innl nrnicrftimnp tn ht» aHhiirprt In
