the youngest police duel in JJritaui is Detective-Inspector Nelson Ashton, of the Scarborough police force, who has been appointed Chief Constable of St. Albans City Police at the age of thirtytwo. Mr Ashton joinel the police on demobilisation in 1919, was appointed sergeant in 1923, inspector in 1927. and detective-inspector last April. There is a small institution in Chicago which has nevc-r been closed a night in 52 years. And yet it is not much bigger now than when it started. The Pacific Garden Mission was established to men who had no place to sleep. The man this mission seeks is ♦he man who begins the day with no breakfast, no money, and no friends.
