PROPOSAL SUPPORTED BY M. HERRIOT. (tjsited press association:— by electric tixegbaph—copt&ight.) PAEIS, December 26. M. Herriot told the Chamber of Deputies that M. Briand's proposal for a TJnited of Europe was possible and should be given immediate support. "I hope that France, in September, will carry a definite project for federation to Geneva," he said. "Everything demonstrates that the, project is possible. Will France add this supplement to the world's peace?" M. Herriot declared that the scheme should be put into effect as soon as possible to avoid conflict with the growing system of economic operation and cartels. He said that tariffs could be reduced and all obstacles overcome by a commercial entente.
