VARIATIONS IN WEATHER.
YESTERDAY'S CHANGES. j Christchurck yesterday experienced at j least three kinds of weather. The morning was hot, with a nor'-west wind, and towards noon the heat became even more intense and the thermometer recorded 80 decrees in ihe shade —a record for this summer. Up till early in the morn- j ing the wind was from the nor -east, j but later it veered to the nor'-west and , became stronger. . _ j "\bout a quarter to two m the after- I noon the wind changed suddenly to the , south-west, and battalions of rain , clouds quick I v assembled from that direction. By 2 o'clock the rain was falling heavilv, and looked as though it had set in for the day. However it lasted for onlv a couple of hours, when ; the sun once again made its appearance. I Then some more clouds drifted up from I the south-west and once again it looked as though rain had set in. A few drops , fell in the evening, but the weather j cleared later on. although tue skv re- ; mr.ined overcast. I
