▲T7CTXOVS. £L MATBON AND OCX VO O h BALI BHVirW O* A* ADBTRAUAW MAMCBT.

They can obtain ail the j eoarto wools they want in Soath Afnca and in other countries of the world, but it is only Aastraiia which produces the large quantities 1 „i the finer wools, and the fact oI these wools | showing the greatest imj.ro* anient in prices, , proves that growers shouid keep the.-r fleecs I ta the requirements of fine wools as m>>cn as • possib'.e. But if the production of One | wool remains about on a par then there la no ■ rmoß why Australia should suffer from the world's over-production. Growers should, then, concentrate as much aa possible on the ( fine quality wool, and results will fully justify j ths extra care bestowed on the flock. , woou ■WOOL. TO ensure that your interests are well conserred. Consign: H. MATSON and CO., ADDINGTON. ' 'Aft r the rise in Australia a great deal of interest was taken in the London wool sales, to see whether the rise would be reflected there also. London always seems to be slower than Australia in responding to the market, and it proved to be so again t bl ? time, for, although there was a rise of from a per cent, to 10 per cent., it was not so great a* that shown throughout the various Australian sales. It was satisfactory, however, -o note that there was a rise, as English critics were ao pessimistic about wool, saying that it could not possibly rise while the world was producing ao much. They also condemned the Australian idea of restricting the offerings, although this has now proved to be efficacious, in Australia as well as in England. The success of restricting the offerings has been quite marked so far, but, of course, there is the real test to come when the extra quantities are offered next year. The carry-over v.-00l may affect the market, or confidence in the industrv mar have recovered so much that it can all be sold at good rate*. "Whichever way prices go they are uncertain now, althongh it would seem that rockbottom has now been reached and the erisis pasaed. Some authorities have gone so far a* to say that the low prices were only the resnlt of panic, and it ia to be hoped that it is so, ae bow that confidence haa been restored prices should be better. The London level of SKINS, HIDES, AND FAT. These are aold every Thursday. An expert classes them. Why retain these small products on the farm where they are subject to deterioration. Send them in and sell them. H. MATSON and CO. will be glad to have them. prices is still a ahade lower than the Australian, and during the last Sydney sale it was thought that values were a shade easier owing to the concurrence of iho London auction. Naturally, if the two auctions were being conducted simultaneously buyers would aim to purchase in the cheaper place, and apparently a few orders were diverted from Sydney, which had the effect of weakening the prices. It seems a pity that London should spoil the Australian market, and it is regrettable that London has to sell at the same time as the Australian auctions are held. "Latest advices from London would indicate that prices are fairly firm, although in the coarser lines it is noticeable that there is not the consistent demand that there is for the line wools. This follows the trend of affairs in Australia, as it has been noticeable all the time that best results have been obtained from the really fine wools. It is montiooed in some quarters that some of the best clips have been withheld from sale during the last two seasons owing to the low prices prevailing. Thia has been the case, as there are still clips in London and in Australia which have been heid over from last season, and there are also a number of clips on the properties in the Southern States, particularly Victoria. Certainly this reduces the quantity of wool available for offering, but it should not be sufficient in itself to make for higher prices. The better returns obtained fnr good quality wool are thus the result of the keener demand for this type, and should encourage people to produce this type in preference to the coarser breeds. LIXIT. To increase the wool, to act as a preventative for many diseases, there is nothing to beat LIXIT. Every day you delay you are running more risk for the infection of one disease or another. H. MATSON and CO. are the agents, and have every confidence in the commodity. From Auckland to the Bluff enquiries and orders are coming in. "If wool can be brought a little higher again the growers will be able to make a small profit for themselves, and now that there has been an increase in the price level tHere is everv chance that they will soan be en a better bksis. It is hard to say how coon the level will rise sufficiently, as buyers are mentioning that they have completed their baying orders for some countries, and if thia is the case the closing sales of the year may not be quite so firm as those of last month. They should produce good prices, however, and if other countries happen to be able to cater for the extra supplies there will be no drop in price. France is said to be likely to reduce its purchases, but there is every chance that Japan will increase the number of bales, so that the market should sot be affected. "The fact that the reduction of the offerings has been responsible for better returns proves that the law of supply and demand •till holds good, and thus the extra production throughout the world means reduced profits to Australia. The only way to increase them again Is by increased demand, and it is interesting to learn that manufacturers consider that if weollen goods can be supplied cheaply a certain proportion of trade lost to the artificial silk industry could be won back. This will mean a lot to the industry, and the next few years should prove whether the lost business can be won or not. In any case, the industry can try its best, and a creat deal can be won by organisation both in the manufacturing and producing centres." REAL ESTATE. Ton either want valuation of your prcparty, or you want to buy a property, or you wart to sell a property. Now who can give you better advice or who has a better grip and knowledge of the value of lands in the various localities than H. MATSON and CO. It is no use being mock modest, go to an expert the same as you would go to the best doctor when you are a sick and sorry man. H. MATSON and CO. will relieve your mind of worry. U.
