ARMY OP PESSIMISTS. DEPRESSING CITY TALK. Winchcombe, Cars op, Ltd., Sydney, write as follows:—"In far western districts of New South YTales Bheepowners have suffered, and are still buffering, one of the worst droughts on record. Reduced prices for wool have given additional trials to those living in that area. Apparently, however, the country produces hearts of s«und material. A woolgrower from that quarter visited Sydney recently on business. He has returned to his property with the Brm conviction that Sydney people, despite the comforts under whieh they live, are just now too pessimistic. He expressed the view that he was glad to go back to his holding to get away from the gloomy talk he listened to for several days in the metropolis. He has decided to cut off his telephone for a year, and battle through the conditions he is suffering, keeping clear of the depressing influence of gloomy prophecies. When he reconnects his telephone 12 months hence he does not wish us to ring him up unless general opinion is more cheerful than at present.
