FEBRUARY MEETING.

The president (Mr S. Bennett) presided over an enthusiastic meeting of the committee, of the Kaikoura Trotting Club on Friday night. Messrs L. Harris, W. Hoare, and George Miles were elected members. Advice Was received from Mr G. S. Simpson accepting the position of handi capper for the Meeting to be held on February 22nd. The president reported that during his visit to Christchureh he had met with generous response from owners of horses, who had promised to give every assistance to make the Meeting a re- ! cord one. Members of the Breeders' Association had also promised him all j the assistance possible. Mr Tom Fox, a former resident of Kaikoura and a well-known owner, had also promised to assist the club. Mr Bennett said if only half the horses came along the Meeting would be a record one, so far as acceptances were concerned. The fact that the club was undertaking the free transport of horses (from Parnassus) not running into a place had proved a popular move, and was much appreciated by owners. Mr Bennett concluded by stating that once this Meeting was over the prospects looked good for the club, as the Main Trunk line would be getting nearer, and there would be a large increase of population during the period of construction. It was decided to have a £1 ticket window at the next Meeting. The track is to be opened immediately for the use of -trainers, subject to the control of the Ground Committee. Various improvements are to be effected for the convenience of the public and owners of horses. Mr W. Clemett was appointed to investigate and report regarding transport arrangements. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded an enthusiastic meeting. For Cricket and all Summer Sports there is no friend like ELLIMAN'S EMBROCATION. Athletes prefer it to all other Embrocations. Strains, sprains, aches, and pains disappear after ELLIMAN'S. Use it "after the game." —6
