SWAMP DRAINAGE.
REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE. (fM«I ASSOCIATIO* TBLEGSAH.) PALMKRSTON N.. November 26. The Minister for Agriculture (the Hon. Mr Forbes) paid a brief visit to Palmerston North last evening. A deputation from the Makerua Drainage Board made a request fnr a € for £ subsidy on the cost of the labour in making a channel providing the key to the drainage system in n valuable area. The expenditure contemplated was £2700. and the sought was i'l2oo. The Minister received the deputation fa von rally and undertook to z<> into the matter early. Government experiment, in draining in New Zealand had been fairlv expensive-.
