SOCIAL AND PRESENTATION
The committee who worked for him, and the pupils of Mr Charles Buckett. tendered him a complimentary social in honour of his successful attempt to break the world's club-swinging record. A programme of elocutionary and vocal items interspersed with, dancing and games, was presented. Mr W. H. Griffiths, manager, congratulated Sir Buckett on his success and presented him with a framed photograph from the committee, a silver cup from the junior pupils, and a silver shield from the senior pupils. Mr Buckett thanked his committee and pupils for their loyalty and for the generous and self-sacrificing efforts they had made on his behalf. The committee also presented Miss Carston and Miss C. Buchanan (secretary) with photographs in recognition of their valuable services in connexion with the swing. The following med.ita for open club-Bwinymg championships, held during the •:l'ib-swingmg test, were then presented:—Seniors': Miss F. Carston 1, Miss Z. Chennells 2: juniors: Miss Anona Buckett 1, Miss Jessie B.ichanan 2. Mr W. Betttill supplied the music and Mr F. T,egge, chairman of Mr Buckett's committee acted as M.C.
