DUSOLINA. GIANNINI.
# FINAL CONCERT. The third afld la«t concert of Signorina Giannini attracted the largest audience of the season, all but filling the Caledonian , Hall. Musically it fully maintained the standard set with the first. The programme opened with Beethoven's "Creation's Hymn," which, with an occasional tenor attempt of "Adelaide," represent all that is yet heard of the master's vocal works. The concert arias, the Bong cycles, and choral works have all been crushed by the wheels of time and the fickleness of singers, unlike the instrumentalists always in pursuit of the new and the unknown. The Hymn ranks by no means among the highest, but gives a good chance for the display of power, and as such was most suitable fpr the Signorina. In strong contrast stood the arias from Ambroise Thomas's "Mignon," a graceful composition well delineated. Very enjoyable were most numbers of the song-group following, especially "My Mother," sung with warm feeling, the playful "Three Cavaliers" and Rachmaninoff'« beautiful "In the Silence of the Night," whieh also found the most artistic interpretation of all. Frank La Forge's "Hills" proved that superfluity of tone which has been hinted at repeatedly and is unnecessary on the concert stage, however excusable in opera complete. On the concert stage beauty not phenomenal endowment is the first Consideration. Finally the Signorina gave again a series of Spanish and Italian folksongs, in which we have learnt from the first that she excelled. We shall always retain delightful memories of Signorina Giannini's visit and her remarkable accomplishments. A brilliant career is sure to be hers. Gounod's "Ave Maria," "A Summer Night," and Massenet's "Elegie'"' were greatly benefited by Mr Deutsch's tasteful obbligatos. Mr 80l Deutsch played admirably and with sterling effect his interesting solos. Miss Molly Bernstein's appearance as a solo pianist was very much approved, and her contributions, consisting of Chopin, Debussy, and Levitskv numbers, called forth the warmest applause.
