AT POLO.
The polo season opened in beautiful weather yesterday afternoon, when u:.inv interested spectators folio-wed with enthusiasm the progress of the most exciting or* all games —at least -r.->m an onlooker's point of view. Vmongst the visitors were many 'adies from the North Island, who were •,("•.- appreciative- of the beauty of the !,,:,'. ground and its surroundings in Ih.glev Park. Much sympathy was expressed with Mr derrick Gould, one of whose ponies ,i*i-,.tiped dead not two minutes after r'jav had begun. * the players and spectator? were hos-,.;--,Mv entertained at tea by Mrs !>■ rriek Gould.
