A GOOD POSTURE.
BENEFIT WHEN DRIVING. A* the problem* of driving an automobile multiply, questions of physical fitnp.M and readiness, which were scarcely considered a few years ago, are pressing to the front. Provided that the driver's seat is correctly adjusted in its position in relation to proper handling of throttle, Lrakos, arid steering Kcar on the part of th« individual driver, an upright -oaition is best. It is not possible to k«?p fully alert after hours of driving, slumped into the seat with th«r chest compressed so as not to admit the tree entranc* of air into the lung-, nnd the spinal column subjvtted to continuous strain It is not necessary to fall into nn incorrect positure tn older to effect that chance of pmition which affords relief from sittings 'n one attitude. To cultivate a good posture in driving may ho a little difficult at first and entail some muscular strain until the body respond* and it becomes second nature. The u*e of drivers" <cnts which can be ndjnstod to the size of the driver and afford support to tire H.irk and which make it unnecessary tor one to adopt unusual attitudes in the control of the car -is not only a factor for health, but also for safety in driving. It requires less expenditure of fctrength nnd nervous energy to drive a car in the correct posture than wh«»n the driver permits himself to slouch. The djivcr who sits up straight is more alert and in a better position to respond to emergencies which require quick thought nnd action on congested roads
