EUROPE'S LARGEST.
BRIGHTON MOTOR RALLY. The first Brighton motor rally, which attracted 300 entries from all parts of England, is claimed to be the largest event of its kind ever organised in Europe. The hero of the rally was Mr Donald M. Healey, of Penzance, one of the 27 competitors, who chose to start from John o' Groat's. When he arrived he had been on the road for 70 hours and had not been to bed for three nights. Among the competitors who drove tha 800-odd miles from John o' Groat's were several women. Many of them admitted dozing at the wheel on the way and went straight to bed on arriving. A feature of the rally was" that competitors had to maintain an average speed of 20 mile* an hour from whatever point they chose to start. To check them there was a secret speed control on the road between Crawley and Brighton. . Women carried off six first prizes in the Concourse d'Elegance. R wan a woman also who drove a high-power racing car to victory in a speed test. The seventeen-year-old Miss Kittv Brunell took the first prize in the class for cars costing between £4OO and toOO. Miss Paddy NaLsmith's Ballot sports saloon a symphony in blue and lemon is fitted with a musical horn, a cocktail bar, a work-basket, and a scent spray, disguised as a bunch of roses a box of scented cigarettes, an autol matic lighter, and a seat that can be made into a comfortable bed. Miss Naismith and her sister Juliet wore frocks of blue and lemon to match their car. They won the first prize tn the class for cars owned and driven by women and costing over £4OO.
OW or worn-out spark plugs cause poor starting and excessive drain on the battery, poor running, and loss of power, especially on hills.
