BRITISH COAL DISPUTE.
AGREEMENT ON GENERAL PRINCIPLES.

At the conference arising out of the coal dispute the miners' delegates, after a lengthy debate, accepted the general principles of trie Government coal plan, while adhering to previous decisions relating to the reduction of hours and a complete reorganisation, including a national agreement. Ilie resolution added that the executive, in conjunction with the miners' representatives in the House of Commons, should continue their efforts to improve Cabinet's plan. An emergency meeting in the evening derided that, in view of the attitude of the owners, the miners should proceed immediately with the draftiug of a Bill on the lines of their own proposals and rush it through both Houses before Christmas, even if an all-night sitting should be necessary.

November 7Mr Evan Williams, President of the Mining Association stated that it was impossible for the, Mining Association to deal with the wages question, since this was the roiu«rn of the various district associations.
