Two wickets were down at 34, both to Barratt, and then a stand was made by Prichard and Richardson, who took the score to 73, when Richardson and Lonergan were dismissed by successive deliveries from Nichols.
South Australia had slumped badly, after being in a good position, but Prichard and Whitfield carcfullv held the fort until stumps were drawn.
