STRUCK BY TRAIN.

MAGISTRATE'S CAR DAMAGED. A slight collision took place last evening between the express from the south and a five-seater sedan car owned by Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M. The mishap occurred at the Colombo street crossing at about 7.27 p.m. Mr Levvey, who was accompanied by his wife, was driving south along Colombo street, on his way to the Cashmere Hills, it is stated, and as he approached the crossing the warning bell began to ring. He pulled in behind another car, and was apparently signalled on by the crossing-keeper. At this point the express was a considerable distance away, in the neighbourhood of the Durham street crossing. The other car got well over the rails, but Mr Levvey's car ia sniii to have stalled, and it came to a stop projecting slightly over the tracks. .Mr Levvey got out of the car on his own side and went round to assist his wife to get out. The crossing-keeper attempted to help Mr Levvey push his "ar clear of the train, but they were not successful in this, and had to get, out of the way when |he impact was about to occur. Nobody was injured through the accident, although the car suff"red damage to its right front wing. The express willed up smartly in little mere than an engine length, and its speed when the damage was done was about six or seven mile? an hour. _..
