A gift afternoon arranged by Mrs John Balls ch. for the variety •tall for the forthcoming fete in aid of St. .John'-. Anglican Church, wa held at her residence. •HiHcrest," on Tuesday afternoon. Roberta moved a vote of thanks to Mr and Mra Ballagh, which" was carried by acclamation. * KAIKOURA. There wm a large attendance at the funeral of Mr Henry John Barratt on Tneaday afternoon, and the large number of floral tributes testiHed to the re«pect in which he was held. The pall-bearers were Messrs A. Melanea, V. Lawaon. G. D. and W. Broogaam. Services were conducted in St. Peter's Church and at the grsvsside by the Bev. W. Bedwell. A strong"northerly gmle set in on Tuesday evening, and heavy black clouds hung ominously overhead, but no rain fell. Yesterday was warm and sultry, with a slight northerly breeic. Rough aeaa prevailed yesterday morning. The ladies of St. Peter's Guild arc buav preparing for the annual Anglican bazaar. Last week a garden party was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs B. L.
