Last year, at Christehurch, he won the Brovcn Scholarship for elocution, an award for boys under 14 years of ~ age. He also plays the violin and his I national and fancy dancing have at- * traded notice at competition festivals. , His youngest brother, aged just four years, scored a success at the last Wei- j ] lington competitions, and another I s brother. aged six years, is at pianist of promise. James Humphreys will join the Glee I J Singers upon their return to Christ- ' j, church toward the end of the present f fi month, and leave with them for Acs- J : fra'i.i. South Af'ica. England, and the Continent. Hi« engagement ■is for a term of from"two to three years.
