FATAL FALL.
FROM ROOF OF CITY BUILDING. DEATH OF YOUNG MAN. Fading a distanrr- ot about SO feet from the roof of Cathedral Chambers into the basement area below. Frank Otten, a young man of 19 years of age, was killed almost instantaneously last night. Otten, who was the son of Mrs B C Otten. caretaker of the Cathedral Chambers, »a* on the roof at the rear of the building, shortly after lO.tfJ p.m., watching a chimney on fire at the Masonic Hotel. Apparently tie overbalanced. Jailing over the coping and dropping through five storeys on to the concrete Boor of a small open area of the basement. Here he was found bv one of the occupants of the offices in the building, who immediately called the ambulance. The lad was dead, however, when medical assistance arrived, the impact having caused terrible injuries. An inquest will be opened to-day.
