INCREASE IN WELLINGTON. (PBMS ASSOCIATHM TBLSGiAK.) WELLINGTON", September 27. By nine votes to three the Wellington Hospital Board has raised fees from 9s to 12s a day for adults and from 4s 6d to 6s for children. Some of the scales for special treatment, such aa Xrays, has also been raised. The chairman said the total cost of running the hospital had been £228,538 last year. Expenses had continually gone up. Maintenance a bed had increased in six years from £l7O 18s to £l9O 12a. Out-patients had increased from 12,777 to 22,609. Interest charges had gone from £3546 to £16,735. The opposition came from members who believed in free hospital treatment for all, and that the country at large should find the cost.
